Assessing the best Summer 2025 gallery shows across Amer-ica, Art & Object has selected eight standout solo shows and one group exhibition in New York, Miami, Chicago, San Fran-cisco, and Los Angeles to add to your current and upcoming art calendar. On view in New York are Pop Art icons Robert Indiana, who has paintings and sculptures at Pace, and Andy Warhol, whose fashion and portrait drawings are presented at Anton Kern Gallery, as well as Modernist masters Pablo Picas-so, who has a selection of still life paintings and works on paper at Almine Rech, and Willem de Kooning, whose paintings are highlighted at Gagosian. Elsewhere, Miami's Mindy Solomon is showing Osamu Kobayashi's meditative abstract canvases, GRAY in Chicago has a group show focused on apparitions, Jessica Silverman in San Francisco is featuring Julia Chiang's abstract paintings interpreting bodies and skin, and Los Angeles Sea View and Tanya Bonakdar Gallery are highlighting Heidrun Rathgeb's paintings of landscapes and domestic situations and Sandra Cinto's celestial paintings and installations, respectively.

Born in Germany and educated in the U.K., Heidrun Rathgeb lives and works in a rural farming community in southern Germany near Lake Constance and the Alps, an environment that provides her with endless subject matter for paintings. She creates small-scale egg-tempera compositions on gesso panels and limited-edition prints inspired by the dramatic landscape surrounding her home, as well as by moments of domestic intimacy. Drawing daily on what she observes nearby or during her travels and artist res-idencies, Rathgeb's intimate paintings capture everyday moments in her life.

Picturing sparsely populated scenes with moonlit skies, mountainous land-scapes, and endless trails, she reveals the tranquil existence that many people in more hectic situations might only experience in a dream.
