Jamiu Agboke
Biography
Jamiu Agboke (b. 1989, Lagos, Nigeria) is a London-based painter whose works explore the shifting relationship between memory, place, and perception. Luminous oil and etched mark-making across radiant copper and aluminum panels trace the passage of time and human presence across indeterminate landscapes. Casting back the surrounding natural light of a room, Agboke's paintings slip between spaces, portals, and psychosomatic reflections. Drifting from the English landscape tradition – rooted in notions of ownership and identity – to a perspective of indeterminacy and migration, dislocation and belonging become inseparable from a landscape continuously in flux.
Agboke has held solo and two-person exhibitions at Cob Gallery, London, UK (2026); Massimo de Carlo, Paris, FR (2025); Vin Vin, Vienna, AT (2025); Sea View, Los Angeles, CA (2024); VIN VIN, Turin, IT (2023) and group exhibitions at Union Pacific, London, UK (2026); White Cube, London, UK (2023); Galerie Marguo, Paris, France (2023); Jack Barrett, New York, NY (2023); and VIN VIN, Vienna, Austria (2019).
