Jamiu Agboke

Biography

Jamiu Agboke (b. 1989, Lagos, Nigeria) is a London-based artist whose charged abstract landscapes convey mutable, multi-faceted atmospheres. Color palette and brushstroke allow for visual slippage and allegory, alluding to various psychological and spatio-temporal conditions. Beginning with the subconscious, Agboke uses copper and aluminum as a reflective surface for vivid brushwork that implies the movement of trees, water, sand, and mud – evoking a sense of displacement and environmental tension between places lived, imagined, and forgotten.

Select solo exhibitions include VIN VIN Vienna (2025), Massimo de Carlo, Paris, FR (2025); Sea View, Los Angeles, CA (2024). Agboke has also been included in group exhibitions at Union Pacific, London (2026); VIN VIN, Turin, Italy (2023); White Cube, London, UK (2023); Galerie Margo, Paris, France (2023); Jack Barrett, New York, NY (2023); and VIN VIN, Vienna, Austria (2019).
